After my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! trying to “clean” my distributor cap and rotor, the new ones, along with new spark plug wires and a new breather hose arrived from FCP Euro today. [Still waiting for the O 2 sensor from Amazon that should arrive today as well.]

I started the disassembly yesterday so I could get the parts on as quickly as possible today. Here it is in mostly dissembled state. I left the plug wires on just in case I somehow ordered the wrong part numbers or it seemed difficult to re-assemble.

It was neither.

The new wires came in the loom already, and the cap even had the bolts inserted partially.

Overall it was very straight forward. Though when showing it to my dad yesterday he asked “you have to take the fan and shroud off to get at the distributor cap? They used to be in easy locations so you could fix it on the side of the road.” It isn’t that hard, but I really don’t know how you would get it off without the fan and shroud out of the way.

Started her back up (with the old O2 sensor still there, but disconnected), and she ran great. Clear ly that cap and rotor were not part of the solution...

Just to show me that I can’t get too comfortable, she did stumble when coming back to idle with the AC on just a bit (RPM’s dropped below 500) on the shaken down drive , but she recovered instead of stalling.
